This website,
The Mormon Curtain
- is a website that blogs the Ex-Mormon world. You can
read
The Mormon Curtain FAQ
to understand the purpose of this website.
One thing you have to remember is that the Mormon Curtain is not dynamically created with PHP. It is a statically developed site maintained by Caligra Blogging Software. This means I add articles with Caligra, then click PUBLISH and it FTP's the data onto the website. The RSS 2.0 XML file is also created at that time and placed there. If you have UNREAD items in your reader and they've fallen off the front page, you won't be able to read them unless you hit the topic area where that item is stored. I always keep 5 days worth of articles up since the site is so fluid.
ALSO: Those of you asking what the "Packer Points" are at the top of the page... (big grin), during the last conference, Apostle Packer stated that there would be penalties for those who say ill things or "diss" the prophet Joseph Smith. With every article I post, I rack up another "Packer Penalty Point". I hope to have tens of thousands and have to sit in the eternal penalty box for a few million years.
Peace,
Infymus.
Monday, Nov 14, 2005, at 08:53 AM Some Changes On The Mormon Curtain, Some Additions, Forum Additions And Name Changes Original Author(s): Infymus MORMON CURTAIN -Guid-
I have removed the links on the menu bars and posted items to RFM. As per Susan's demands I have removed all links to RFM from the Mormon Curtain - even links that go to their main site and the main header of their forums. Susan does not want the Mormon Curtain linking in any way shape or form to RFM. Older topics still have links to RFM but those topics are long gone.
With recent discussion with Susan concerning "legal issues", I have posted the entire Jerald and Sandra Tanner article on the Mormon Curtain. You can find it here:
Don't forget to visit the Archived Topics on the Mormon Curtain. There is a wealth of information there.
The Mormon Curtain has nearly unlimited bandwidth and hundreds of gigs of storage space. We are extremely well funded and we will be here for a very, very long time. So enjoy and I will get back to working hard on the Ex-Mormon cause.
Cheers,
Infymus.
Friday, Dec 2, 2005, at 08:14 AM New Header Layout For News Items On The Mormon Curtain Original Author(s): Infymus MORMON CURTAIN -Guid-
Due to recent controversy with Susan I/S over at RFM I have made a change to the News Item Header. Now the News Item Header shows who pulled the article and who was the "Original Author". This is to give credit back to the original name of the original poster of the article. Since I am no longer linking to the article due to the fact that Susan I/S had such a hissy fit about it, I want to give at least credit back to those who wrote the articles.
I have received a few emails about articles that I've posted wherein people think that I wrote the article myself. This is a bad by-product of Susan I/S's heavy handed tactics and demands from RFM and I apologize.
The new News Item Header now reflects who the Original Author was.
Peace,
Infymus.

Now that I've spent the last year gathering some of the very best posts from around the Ex-Mormon world, I will now be dividing half my time to gathering pages such as those from the Jerald and Sandra Tanner, Deconstructor and the dozens of other sites that have published excellent works on Mormon and Ex-Mormonism. These are done with permission and I correspond with those authors frequently for changes and publications.
I wanted to personally thank the readers who visited the Mormon Curtain during the year of 2005. We ended the year at right around 1.8 million visitors.
I started off very small with only a handful of topics and have grown to over 100+ topics spanning 1300+ articles. By the end of the year 2006 I do not doubt that we will have over 4000 articles and another hundred topics.
I hope the new year brings hope and peace to Mormons who are beginning to doubt the Church they call "The One And Only". The information you need is here and you are not alone in your pursuit of the truth.
I ask that Ex-Mormons who still have Mormon spouses step back for just a small moment. Be patient, you have discovered the lies and deceit that is Mormonism - but your spouses are still trapped beneath the lie. Have patience in knowing their mindset has been programmed by years of brainwashing at the hands of a very large and wealthy corporation.
I will be off until Tuesday the 3rd while I spend time with my family.
Please have a safe and happy new year!
Infymus,
Michael S. Hoenie
Friday, Feb 17, 2006, at 08:52 AM The Mormon Curtain - Ex-Mormon Forums Are Now Online Original Author(s): Infymus MORMON CURTAIN -Guid-
I have avoided this topic for a very long time because the items that are under this topic are very personal. After a great deal of consideration, I have decided to create the topic and begin posting items under it. All of the posts will be listed as “Anonymous” unless specifically sent to me with permission to use names. No items will be posted if they contain references to family members or local wards or actual names.
I wanted to create this topic because I believe strongly that Priesthood interviews in Mormonism must be changed. Children as young as 8 years old are asked if they masturbate. Children as young as 12 years old are asked if they masturbate or have "petted" or have "necked" with a partner. Many Mormon children have no idea what any of these terms are. If the child has committed any of these "sins", they are pressed for details. Many are then scorned and told that their acts will lead them to hell. Those who have masturbated are then denied the sacrament and must then be interviewed by the Bishop on a weekly basis until the masturbation has stopped. Mormon children grow up sexually repressed and many grow up emotionally insecure about their own sexuality.
Parents are not allowed in the room at the same time these sexual questions are asked. Mormon parents are not allowed to question Mormon Priesthood authority and do not hesitate to turn their male and female children over to men behind closed doors.
I believe that adult men asking sexual questions of minors behind closed doors is a criminal act.
I have created this topic to host what I see as criminal acts behind closed doors, and the psychological problems created by these interviews. I want the world to see what happens behind these closed doors and the only way to do so is to create this topic and begin posting articles inside it. I do so with great reverence for those who come forward to tell their stories of abuse by the hands of Mormon Priesthood leaders.
Peace,
Infymus.
Monday, Mar 20, 2006, at 09:00 AM How To Link Articles On The Mormon Curtain Original Author(s): Infymus MORMON CURTAIN -Guid-
I have added a new -LINK- next to the date on each Blogged Item. If you notice above there is a -LINK-. If you highlight this link with your mouse, you can then right click, and "copy link .. location". That link refers back to the article on the Mormon Curtain in it's proper topic area.
If you are posting messages elsewhere and wish to reference an article on the Mormon Curtain, you may do so by using the -LINK- url location.
I hope this helps in the future.
Friday, Jun 9, 2006, at 07:09 AM Forums Links On The Mormon Curtain Original Author(s): Infymus MORMON CURTAIN -Guid-
I have added a sectional for outside Ex-Mormon forums that are "friendly" to Ex-Mormons. While there are a lot more forums out there such as NOM or Mormon Discussions, those forums are not friendly to Ex-Mormons and those searching for the truth behind Mormonism may be misled by Mormons and Mormon sympathizers.
The View From The Foyer has been shut down by Archie. It is no longer hosted by AIMOO. Those who frequented the Foyer have set up shop at a new Foyer and you can find it here:
I'll be Archimedes for a while. This is Gracie. I have taken full control of the Foyer, thanks to my gracious co-founder, who handed it over to me.
I'm going to play it quiet for a while. You can PM me at Gracie or Archimedes. Just be aware that we're the same person. Me. I'll get it figured out in a bit. Right now I'm busy stripping wallpaper.
Another new year is upon us. The Mormon Curtain has now been up and running for a full two years.
Last year we ended up with 1.8 million visitors. The total number of visitors this year was 4.7 million, the last half a million coming in during the month of December.
We now have 2,472 articles online stored in 168 topics. The amount of spam I am receiving now is hitting in the thousands per day, and with the help of good software, I have that down to a trickle. I also continue to receive loads of emails from Mormons who stumble upon my site and wish to pour their hearts out that the God of Mormonism will take me back if I would only repent and return “My Brother”. I kindly respond and tell them when they are ready to see the Mormon Church for what it is, come back and start reading.
You can visit all the topics that were ever posted on the Mormon Curtain here:
This next year I will be redesigning the Mormon Curtain header around to make it more understandable for people reading the site. So many Mormons write to me hate mail stating they dislike what I have written on the page. What they don't realize is that it is Ex-Mormons and Non-Mormons who write the material on the Mormon Curtain. If you look at the header on each post, you will see an “ORIGINAL AUTHOR” that shows the original author name. If you need to get a hold of that author for any reason, please email me and I will get in touch. I keep in touch with many of the authors whose posts are placed on the Mormon Curtain.
Here is a small image showing how to use the header:
I think that I have proven myself and my intentions in the Ex-Mormon community. When I first started this website I was accused of trying to expose Ex-Mormons. The Recovery From Mormonism Board administration cried copyright infringement and tried desperately to shut me down. I am still banned from posting on the Recovery From Mormonism board. Any message on RFM that links to the Mormon Curtain is immediately deleted. I think it is time to drop the bans. The Mormon Curtain has a wealth of information - I now have more stored information here than all of the articles stored on Ex-Mormon.ORG.
It is a strange feeling when you are shunned and banned from the very community you are trying so hard to support.
I hope that the two years of work I have accomplished shows to the Ex-Mormon community that I am here for you and for future Mormons / Ex-Mormons who need all of the posts that are on this website to help them recover from the damaging cult of Mormonism. I cannot count the number of people that have written to me and stated that because of this website - The Mormon Curtain - they found their way out of the church. Personally I cannot take credit for this - the Ex-Mormon community takes full credit. You who read this site and who post throughout the Ex-Mormon communities are the ones who helped make this site. You are the ones who are helping others find their way out of the Cult of "Pay, Pray and Obey." I simply gather all of the information from multiple sites and put it all together in a large online database. My thanks go out to all of you who read and post and share your stories of how you were affected by the Cult of Mormonism.
We have a great Moderator, Notoriuswun who keeps everything in check and tries his best to keep the board spam down. We have a great group of individuals who post regularly and I invite everyone to come over and join up and post. And to my friends, Notoriuswun - and all of you who post on the Ex-Mormon Forums - I hope your year was good, I hope your next year will be even better. My best wishes for all of you and your families (and in some cases, your little piggies).
I have only the best wishes for everyone in this new year.
Please have a safe and happy new year!
Infymus,
Michael S. Hoenie

Monday, Dec 19, 2011, at 01:29 PM Stop #SOPA: Using the Internet to Save the Internet Original Author(s): Huff Post Tech MORMON CURTAIN -Guid-
Q. How do you stop dangerously bad legislation backed by $94 million in lobbying money so far this year and what was seemingly insurmountable support from lawmakers and D.C. insiders?
A. The Internet.
On November 15th and 16th, social media mobilized like never before against the Stop Online Piracy Act (#SOPA), a bill which would impose crippling regulation on social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube -- and prevent fledgling social and mobile startups from getting off the ground in the first place -- all in the name of protecting Hollywood copyrights.
The problem with the bill, and its Senate companion, the PROTECT IP Act, is not in its goals: no one disagrees artists should be paid for their work. It's that it uses illegitimate means -- censoring and blocking websites like they do in repressive regimes from China to Iran -- to pursue these objectives. Furthermore, each subsequent version of the bill took even more draconian steps to regulate the Internet, effectively leaving any site with a user-contributed content no choice but to pre-screen every posting to comply with the law. Try that with 50 million tweets a day.
Having been involved in this fight for over a year through Don't Censor the Net, the outpouring of opposition was truly amazing -- made possible only by the instant, connective power of social media. At the end of it, people who don't normally agree on anything -- from Nancy Pelosi to Michele Bachmann and Rand Paul -- all agreed that SOPA needed to be scrapped or drastically re-written.
Knowing that an important hearing in the House Judiciary Committee was coming up on November 16th, Don't Censor the Net kicked off its efforts with a Social Media Lobby Day on the 15th, encouraging visitors to call, tweet, or post Facebook messages on the walls of Judiciary Committee members. We wanted to make sure that representatives were well aware that scoial media was watching going into the hearing. The effort attracted tens of thousands of visitors, generated and led to a meek attempt by the MPAA to hijack the #LobbyDay hashtag.
On the day of the hearing, numerous groups banded together for American Censorship Day -- using a simple bit of code to "black out" their sites. Internet companies stood united in protest. Tumblr, the hugely popular blogging platform, "censored" user dashboards and linked to a simple calling tool to connect people to their representatives. Over 87,000 calls -- 3.6 per second -- were made. Four of the hottest searches online that day were SOPA-related. And what about the bill's supporters? Legislative tracking platforms from OpenCongress to PopVox found a whopping 1-2% of users in support of SOPA.
The fight isn't over yet. Despite this tremendous show of opposition, there are strong indications its sponsors intend to move SOPA forward unchanged. If that isn't a sad commentary on how just how few in D.C. "get" the Internet, I don't know what is.
What can you do to stand up for your freedoms online right now?
